Center for Health Design

WELCOME to the Ripple database.  On your first visit please take the time to register and remember to login again on your next visit so we can see what areas interest you.

The site has three primary navigation pathways:  LEARN  COMPARE  ACT.  The COMPARE and ACT tracks are not live at this time. The objective of the database is to provide you the opportunity to learn more about evidence based design by seeing actual design decisions made by multiple health systems, linked to existing research that supports those decisions.  As they become available outcome metrics, lessons learned, case studies and white papers will be added.

You can view the information in the database in a variety of ways.

  • Click on LEARN and you will go to the Learn page. By selecting one of the six Outcome areas you will begin to see more information.
  • Select Strategies. By selecting one of the Strategies you will see the Strategies linked to each of the outcomes you saw when you first entered Learn.
  • Select one of the Topic areas listed underneath each strategy. Each one of these topic areas contains a list of the strategies that Kaiser Permanente used to build their hospitals.
  • To view related Research that correlates to each strategy click on that strategy and you will be able to see an abstract of the research article or go directly to the Research tab.
  • Coming soon will be actual results, case studies, lessons learned and white papers that are related to the desired outcomes.

You can continue to view the rest of the strategies in this same manner by selecting another area of interest or you can use the Search function and type in key words to find the information that you are seeking.

This database is being built in stages,   Kaiser Permanente’s transparency and willingness to share their information provided the impetus to build the site so we began with their information. We want to hear from you. Does the database provide you with useful information? Let us know what changes we can make, so we  can adapt how we add information from other health care organizations.  Please take the survey. We look forward to your comments and ideas. Thank you.
