What is the Ripple?
It is an open source searchable database that provides you with design strategies from multiple organizations used to build their hospitals.
Many of these organizations have used an evidence based design process and have looked at existing research or are conducting their own to measure their outcomes and results.
How long has Ripple been in existence?
The database was launched on July 4, 2008 and is being built in stages. More of the functionality will be turned on as more information is gathered from the participating health care organizations.
Is there a fee to use the database?
Currently this is an open source database and there are no fees to access the information.
What are outcomes?
In an evidence based design process the organization establishes a vision for their project and they have specific goals and outcomes in mind that they want to achieve with their building design. We listed six areas that organizations could target as desired outcomes which can occur as a result from the integration of their overall design, technology, and operataional strategies..
How many strategies are there?
Currently the database houses over 150 strategies from Kaiser Permanente.
How much research do you reference? Is it current?
The research team from The Center for Health Design conducted a full literature review of current information using key words to identify research linked to the Kaiser Permanente strategies.
